Funding

The Hellenic Node of the Human Variome Project is funded by government and European grants, as well as contributions from non-profit organizations. To this end, we have already secured funds from the European project GEN2PHEN and the Greek General Secretariat of Research and Technology. In addition, the Golden Helix Institute of Biomedical Research - that has contributed since 2004 in the establishment of various National/Ethnic mutation databases and the development of the ETHNOS software - also contributes funds and resources and is one of the active supporters of the Greek HVP node.
Since the development of the Hellenic Node of the Human Variome Project is a dynamic project, more funds are needed, not only to identify existing data collections for causative mutations but also to generate new data for yet unidentified disorders. For this purpose, we seek additional funding from local and international funding bodies and charities.
