The Golden Helix Institute of Biomedical Research is involved in scientific collaborative projects in the field of translational research. In particular, the Golden Helix Institute is the European Regional Center of the Pharmacogenomics for Every Nation Initiative (http://www.pgeni.org), in an effort to integrate pharmacogenomics in developing countries. Also, since its establishment in 2003, the Golden Helix Institute has actively participated to develop the Golden Helix Server, where a number of National/Ethnic Genetic databases and related projects that record the incidence of genetic diseases and the corresponding mutation spectrum in various populations and ethnic groups, are hosted. Finally, the Golden Helix Institute is involved in a pan-European effort to assist society, the general public and healthcare professionals to better understand Genetics and to establish, in conjunction with research organizations, public health guidelines pertaining to the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics in everyday medical practice.
